Your back yard can reach your neighborhood.

Why are we doing VBS differently this year?
As part of our mission to make disciples, we're taking VBS away from our campus and into our neighborhoods. To this end, we are looking for Host Homes. We want to keep these opportunities hyper-local: your back yard VBS is just for kids in your neighborhood. Volunteers from other areas may serve at your Host Home, but we want the kids participating to actually be part of your neighborhood.

DATES: Monday June 14 - Wednesday June 16, 2021
TIMES: Either morning (9am - 11am) -OR- evening (6pm - 8pm), depending on location.
SUGGESTED AGES: 4 - 11 years old

What neighborhoods have a Host Home?
Currently: Towne Mill (2 locations), Summerwalk, Park Village, Longview St, and Barrington Farms. More locations to be announced soon.

What are the responsibilities of a Host Home?
Provide location. Provide snacks if they choose. Oversee your location for security and first aid needs. Host Homes should be in a walkable neighborhood. Hosts do not lead Bible studies or activities so that they can be available as needs arise. Host Homes may utilize front yards, backyards, or garages in inclement weather for the event. Host Homes must have current homeowners’ insurance.

What supplies are provided by CFB?
All curriculum, craft supplies, and volunteer teaching videos will be provided.

How is Backyard VBS promoted?
Host Homes will be given personalized door hangers and a sample invitation to use on HOA emails and Facebook groups.

Do all volunteers/participants need to live in the same neighborhood as the Host Home location?
We encourage members to volunteer in their neighborhood to  develop relationships where they live. However, since all volunteers do not live in walkable neighborhoods, volunteers may help in other locations. Participants should live in the neighborhood unless they are a child of a volunteer.

Is training available?
Yes, we have 3 options for on-campus training:
Sunday, May 30th
Wednesday, June 2nd
and Sunday, June 13th.

How else can I serve?
